The Feast of Midsummer

   Sivan, the month of June, is the season of the Summer Solstice. It is the glorious month of the Ascension of the risen Cosmic Force. At this season the Planetary Christ ascends to the higher levels, there to bathe in the radiance of the Father's presence. This is a time of such great spiritual ecstasy that it is celebrated throughout the inner realms by Angels, Archangels and all the heavenly Hosts. The very nature spirits of the Earth plane also join in the revelry; joy and gladness are supreme.

   The entrance into the sacred Mysteries of this holy season demands a high state of attainment; the royal apparel must indeed be luminous with white and blue, and the halo of radiance must have become as a crown of gold. The ancient alchemists observed this season of the Summer Solstice as the most fitting time in which to bring the great White Work unto its lunar perfection. In the Book of Esther this is described in the words of the king: "Behold I have given unto Esther the house of Haman." Until this transformation occurs within the disciple himself, the doors of the Temple remain closed and he is unaware of the glorious Feast of Light being observed within. This Rite is termed occultly the Feast of the Ascension and it has been observed and participated in by those who are sufficiently illumined since the early institution of the Mysteries. In the Old Testament Dispensation this sacred Festival was described as follows: "The Feast of Weeks or Pentecost occurs within the month of Sivan (June). It is called the Feast of Weeks because forty. nine days, or seven weeks, elapse between the Passover, when a sheat of green barley was offered, and this festival, when two loaves made of the first flour of the wheat harvest were brought before the Lord. it is also the anniversary of the delivery of the commandments from Mount Sinai."

   During the ripening time of the grain, the Israelites were commanded to hold a holy convocation to praise the "One who can prevent all things, but who cannot be prevented; who can change all things, but is unchangeable."

   The sermon on the mount was also delivered when the Earth was bathed in the white glory of the Summer Solstice, and those who heard its divine pronouncements and were privileged to observe its accompanying glories were the holy men and women who had developed the powers of the ascended consciousness. Such alone are able to partake of this mighty Festival of Light.

The Resurrection Feast of the Springtide

   The Feast of Purim (stone) is the ritual of the stone rolled away in preparation for the ceremony of the Resurrection, the season Of the Spring Equinox, celebrated throughout the Christian world as Easter and in the Old Testament Dispensation as the Passover.

   The following description of the Passover is taken from the Talmud: "The Passover, or feast of unleavened break, was instituted in commemoration of our ancestors' redemption from Egypt, a memorial forever. The pictorial symbol of Aries (Nissan: April) is a lamb, therefore, God commanded His people to take a lamb and eat it. On the seventh day of the Passover the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea on dry land. When Israel suffered from the hot rays of the sun, God spread the cloud for a covering; when they were hungry He sent them bread from heaven; and when they thirsted He brought forth floods from a rock."

   Every religion has observed this season as a holy time. Ishtar was the Babylonian goddess of Spring to whom great reverence was paid at the time of the Vernal Equinox, that glad time when the Light of the Cosmic Sun (the Christ Star) is released from the tomb of matter and ascends into Spiritual spheres, there to prepare for the further redemption of the Earth planet and its humanity. The life of all world Teachers follows the same cosmic pattern, and consequently it was necessary that They, too, be liberated from the grave at this, the Feast of the Resurrected Ones. Each one who has thus followed the Way to the very end becomes a Stone with a new name, and is among those worthy to partake of the spiritual Feast of Purim. This Feast of the Resurrection is observed within the Temple of the Initiated by all who have found the waters of eternal life, and it is of such that the Angels chant: "He is risen."

   The Feast of Purim is celebrated by the orthodox Hebrews in commemoration of the saving of their race "from the wiles of Haman through the God-aided means of Mordecai and Esther." Astronomically, it is, as already observed, the feast commemorating the solemn mysteries of the Spring Equinox, the victory of the light of spring over the darkness of winter, in the Christian world observed as the Resurrection of Christ Jesus, victor over death and the grave. Esoterically, it celebrates the Initiate's entry into the new life behind Temple doors, beyond the Cross of the great Crucifixion, where he receives and wears the Crown of the great Liberation forevermore.

   These spiritual analogies are all to be found within the Book of God's Remembrance, occultly termed the Memory of Nature, and thence these truths were drawn to be inscribed upon the mystic scroll given by the Wise Ones to man as the Book of Esther. That the Book of Esther contains an experience which shall in time become familiar to every man is shown in these words found in the Apocrypha: "A little fountain became a river and there was light, and the Sun, and much water: this river is Esther, whom the king married and made queen: And the two dragons are I and Aman."
